Senior Adult Conference: Scam Awareness and Prevention
Tuesday, November 10, 9:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
About 58% of adults in the US receive suspected spam messages, calls, emails or texts every single day. A Gallup report estimates that roughly 15 million American adults are scammed every year. Recognizing the widespread prevalence of adults being targeted, the NM Senior Adult Committee is hosting a conference on Scam Awareness and Prevention. The conference will be held in the Northminster Great Hall on Tuesday, November 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Highlighting the conference will be speakers from the FBI and Better Business Bureau. The FBI is sending a fraud investigator to share tips of how to recognize fraud and scams so persons don’t become victims. The representative from the Better Business Bureau will share ways to more easily identify scam requests and steps to take to keep your accounts and information secure. The conference will also include a session on the emotional impact of being scammed.
There is no charge for the conference, but advanced registration is required. A catered lunch is included with registration.
The conference begins at 9:00 a.m. with a continental breakfast and a general session starting at 9:30 a.m.
