Northminster is a place of spiritual hospitality. The church is open by mission and design. The building itself welcomes all with thoughtful, communal spaces – while expansive windows underscore Northminster’s connection to the world beyond its doors.
The congregation is the embodiment of Northminster’s humble, but earnest calling to serve while continuously growing in faith together. This intentional community has been the cornerstone of Northminster since its founding in 1967. It is demonstrated in the lay-led approach to ministry, the autonomy of the church itself, and the genuine respect for all perspectives. Faith is not dictated, but explored and nurtured.
Northminster is a living church. Every member plays a vital role in both spirit and commitment. Most church responsibilities are handled by congregants, not paid staff. This depth of involvement translates to deeper ties. You don’t just become a member of Northminster. Northminster becomes a part of you. That also means becoming a part of the greater Jackson community. Service-based ministry is the heart of Northminster. Missions and support for the local community are prioritized in both donations and deeds. The most important work of the church takes place outside its doors.
Northminster is a place to be present.
To practice faith deep and wide.
To unite in service.
With open arms.
Our primary denominational affiliation is the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF) and Great Rivers Fellowship, the regional organization of CBF.
The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship is a Christian network of individuals and churches working together to spread the hope of Christ. Our diverse community includes partners all over the globe, and our fellowship supports a wide range of missions and ministries that give people meaningful opportunities to put their faith into action.
Our understanding of Baptist faith and practice is expressed by our emphasis on freedom in biblical interpretation and congregational governance, participation of women and men in all aspects of church leadership and Christian ministry, and religious liberty for all people.
For more than twenty years, CBF has been driven by its mission to serve Christians and churches as they discover and fulfill their God-given mission. Our vision is to be a national and global community bearing witness to the gospel in partnership with Christians across the nation and around the world.
Northminster also partners with and supports a number of organizations to participate in God’s restorative work in our community and beyond.
