The Northminsterites: The Taff Family

October 14, 2026

Who is in your family?

Our immediate family consists of Ryder, Blair, Ryder Marie (4), and Cavett (3). Carol Taff is Ryder’s mom!

What led you to Northminster?

Ryder grew up at Northminster and has remained an active member throughout his life. After Ryder and Blair met in 2015, Blair began attending as well!

What has been your most meaningful involvement at Northminster?

Blair’s parents have always been active in their church and have shown her the lasting impact that relationships formed in a Sunday School class can have. Building meaningful connections with others in that setting has greatly enriched her life. During a season when so much revolves around raising children, setting aside intentional time to learn and grow alongside other adults has been especially rewarding. Watching our children grow up in the church has also been a treasure.

What’s your family’s theme song?

“Turn! Turn! Turn!” by The Byrds. In parenthood, especially during the early years, nothing lasts forever. Every stage is just a passing phase, with our children constantly changing, growing, and evolving in wildly wonderful ways. Of course, if you asked the children, they’d undoubtedly choose something from The Lion King Broadway cast recording!

What’s your favorite Bible story or verse?

Blair tries to let the Fruits of the Spirit guide her daily life. We also get a kick out of John making a point to mention that he outran Peter on the way to the tomb!

What are you looking for at the church potluck?

Blair is usually looking for a knife to cut into whatever dessert she’s brought. She firmly believes people are more likely to take a piece once that first slice is gone! As for the children, let’s just say a dinner roll doesn’t stand a chance when they’re around.

Who has been important to you during your time at Northminster?

So many members have played a role in Ryder’s upbringing, but one of his most rewarding relationships grew out of volunteering alongside Monica Daniels. After more than a year of leading children’s classes together, they developed a close friendship and have been there for each other many times since.

What’s your favorite Northminster story?

This past summer, Cavett, who was just 2 at the time, was able to participate in Bible Camp. Seeing the older children and youth welcome him so enthusiastically nearly made my heart explode! The endless hugs, high-fives, and fist bumps made him feel like he had his very own fan club.

Another cherished memory is hearing the children of Northminster sing “Crowded Table.” It’s a moment we’ll always treasure.
