Who is in your family?
Hart, Madeleine (14), Mary Gilbert (7), and Megan. Hart and the girls live next door to Megan, who is Hart’s sister, so there are lots of walks back and forth to each other’s houses!
What led you to Northminster?
After working at a couple of area churches, Hart was looking for “a different kind of Baptist church.” At the invitation of Lida Carraway, Hart visited Northminster and joined shortly after. Megan joined in 2019 and both Madeleine and Mary Gilbert are children of the church.
What has been your most meaningful involvement(s) at Northminster?
We have loved being involved in all kinds of activities at Northminster including Bible Camp, Passport camps, serving at Atrium, mahjong ministry, and committee membership on Wider Net and Missions.
What’s your family theme song?
We couldn’t choose just one! Regular favorites include No Scrubs by TLC, Father Figure by Taylor Swift, Pink by Lizzo, Friends in Low Places by Garth Brooks, If I Had a Hammer by Peter, Paul, & Mary and All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version) by Taylor Swift.
What’s your favorite Bible story or verse?
Mary Gilbert’s favorite Bible story is about Jonah and the whale because Jonah was really brave. Madeleine’s favorite Bible passage is Psalm 23 because she has known it since she was little, and it comforts her that God is always with us.
What are you looking for at the church potluck?
Hart is looking for tomato pie, Megan and Mary Gilbert are looking for chicken tenders and macaroni & cheese, and Madeleine is looking for rice consommé or deviled eggs at the dessert auction!
Who has been important to you in your time at Northminster?
Of course, our Northminster balcony crew is near and dear to our heart! We are also so thankful for Amy Finklelberg, Mrs. Annette, Holly Wiggs, Geoff, the Ratcliffs, the Buckleys, the Masseys, Cathy Davis, our pastors, Miss Barquita, the Carraways, and Chuck & Marcia.
What’s your favorite Northminster story?
We love the story of having our early home at Beth Israel and now having the privilege of hosting the Beth Israel community for their Shabbat services. It is important to us that Northminster practices hospitality in so many real ways.
