Northminster Baptist Church is seeking its next Associate Pastor for Community and Missions. This is a full-time, pastoral position.
Role Overview
The Associate Pastor for Community and Missions serves as the primary pastoral leader for the church’s service and missions ministries, and additionally serves as a member of the pastoral team leading in worship, providing pastoral care, and participating in general pastoral leadership to the congregation. This role requires a proactive, entrepreneurial leader who can identify opportunities, mobilize people, and bring new ministry initiatives through to impact and completion. Reports to the Pastor and Board of Deacons.
Credentials and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• MDiv or equivalent theological training preferred.
• Significant professional experience working in community ministry, missions, or social work.
Responsibilities
Pastoral Leadership in Northminster Missions Efforts:
• Coordinate all areas of Northminster’s missions and service ministries.
• Collaborate with the Wider Net Committee, Denominational Relations Committee and Direct and Local Missions Committee to identify mission partners and facilitate regular service opportunities for the congregation.
• In collaboration with congregational leadership, discern and facilitate regional, national, or international mission partnerships and trips that deepen congregational engagement.
Direct Wider Net Ministry:
• Collaborate with the Wider Net Committee to coordinate and reimagine the church’s ongoing presence and ministry in Jackson’s Midcity/Georgetown neighborhood
• Foster relationships between the members of our congregation and neighborhood, acting as a bridge to connect community needs with the abilities of church members.
• Provide vision, administrative oversight and project management for Wider Net projects and initiatives.
